Ucluelet to Zeballos

This morning breakfast was taken at a nice roadside little café however once again it seemed to take forever for people to decide what they wanted to eat, have it cooked, and then consume it.  This little vehicle is an invalid carriage which was parked outside.

Today was mostly spent driving from Ucluelet to Zeballos which as you can see from this map involves backtracking on ourselves before heading north and finally west - about a 6 hour drive in all.

As well as the obligatory lunch break we stopped briefly at Qualicum Bay which had spectacular views of the mountains in the distance.

Our final loo stop before leaving the tarmac road for the final hour's drive to Zeballos was at a place called Woss - it was like stepping back in time, all the locals there wore bib-fronted dungarees and drove flat bed trucks.

Just before reaching Zeballos we stopped again to have a look at a site where Beavers have been seen in the past, but the water levels were very low and there were none around (are you noticing the common thread on this trip) and still none when some of the group returned after dinner.

Reel Obsessions Fishing Lodge, our accommodation in Zeballos is new to Naturetrek this year.  It consists of 3 rooms in the main house with another 2 rooms above a garage.  So that means the two leaders plus one couple were billeted out elsewhere in the village (I don't know where).  Along with the wooden panelled rooms it's also rather like I imagine a ski chalet to be; we have a hostess who comes in and cooks the meals for us and someone to tidy the rooms, otherwise we are there on our own.  The meals are delicious and Kelly had taken note of everyone's allergies/likes/dislikes to the extreme and so there are many versions of every dish made specially.
